Are You a Good Candidate for Implants?
Most adults who are missing one or more teeth are good candidates for dental implants. Ideal candidates have healthy gums and enough jawbone to support the implant. Even if bone loss has occurred, additional treatments may make implants possible.
Candidates should be in generally good health and willing to maintain good oral hygiene. A consultation and imaging allow us to determine if dental implants are the right option for you.
How Are Implants Placed?
A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. The process is done in steps to make sure it’s safe, comfortable, and long-lasting.
Step 1: Planning and Preparation
Before treatment, we take digital X-rays or 3D images to carefully plan where the implant should go. This helps ensure the implant is placed in the strongest, healthiest bone and avoids nearby nerves or sinuses.
Step 2: Placing the Implant
On the day of the procedure, the area is fully numbed so you stay comfortable. The implant is gently placed into the jawbone through a small opening in the gum. Most patients are surprised by how quick and easy this step feels.
Step 3: Healing and Integration
Over the next few months, the implant naturally bonds with the bone in a process called healing or integration. During this time, the implant becomes a strong, stable foundation—just like a natural tooth root.
Step 4: Attaching the New Tooth
Once healing is complete, a abutment is placed on the implant, and a custom-made crown (the visible tooth) is attached. The final tooth is designed to look, feel, and function like your natural teeth.
The Result
Dental implants are secure, comfortable, and long-lasting. They allow you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence—without affecting nearby teeth.
